In the 80's he was in a terrible motorcycle accident.He said he wrote the song about the fact that the hospital had to reconstruct his face.

When he looks into her eyes, eye's becomes an obsession. what he realizes, she's so virtually inhuman. There's no humanity cause she shows no remorse for the way she treats him. He wants to get back at her for all her unfaithfulness of their relationship. He believed her in all her lies, he felt that she let him down. They are supposed to be serious about the love they have. He is wrapped up in so much guilt for what he thought was meant to be true. He goes on a bus on a psychedelic trip reading murder books to find a way to get back at her. He thinks of her as she's out there while she's continuing to mess around. He still is obsessed with her eye's he's visually thinking of her having eye's without a face cause he felt deceived and heartbroken. The woman he loved and opened his heart up to just merely used him. The woman he loved, was hiding behind a mask to make herself hide and pretend to be a good match.

Parents, who didn't take the time to get close to their Son. and see that he needed help. Faculty, who only wanted to Teach. And not see that this Young Man had a problem. Friends, who never took the time to tell this young Man, that he was loved. And that he had a lot of Friends.

Maybe to have eyes so beautiful, piercing, evil or whatever that the rest of the face is not noticed.
