"Wobble adapter"!!! Now, that's classic! Pick this dudes answer on the basis of clarity and overall humor in such a short quote!
You should be pretty certain by now that muffler bearings aren't real. So, I won't go further into reiterating this fact.
I once played a trick on a friend by attaching a long zip-tie to his driveshaft. Every time it made a revolution, it would slap the undercarriage of his truck. He freaked out for an entire day before I let him in on my little secret. He has since been wary every time I've done work on his car! If your Mustang is a V-8, it might be wise to look into this... but, it's not likely going to be the source of your problem.
I, like many of the other people who have posted, are just trying to cheer you up & reaffirm your suspicion that cars are prone to breaking...regardless of how new they are. If you're sure that the sound is originating from your exhaust, then just take your car to someone who specializes in muffler diagnostics/replacement. It shouldn't be too expensive to fix.

Your mechanic has a sense of humor!! There is no such thing as a muffler bearing. If the car is new, any repairs needed to the muffler to quiet a noise is definitely covered by the warranty. Talk to your dealerships General Manager about the behavior of whoever it was that gave you the false info.

There is no such thing as muffler bearings.
New or even nearly new your Mustwang should have warranty on it. If you are not posting this as a joke, you need to make a complaint with the better business bureau. But first get the dealership to give you an estimate in writing and take that to the BBB.
good luck .....

I have never seen a muffler bearing and i have been working on cars now for 10 years. Most of the time exhaust rattles
are from a loose clamp or heat shield or from pipe hitting
some other part.

i have heard many of those lines, blinker fluid, muffler bearings, but beware, fan fluid does exist, and no, you don't set muffler bearing clearance with a titanium feeler guage that costs $500(only usable once.) with out hearing the noise i can not guess what it is, i would actually take it back to the same shop, talk to a different service writer, possibly one that doesn't look like he is going to piss his pants with laughter, or if you get the same guy, just remain calm, and ask him if he is going to give you a good answer now. i hate people that pull this kind of stunt. it makes it hard for the rest of us that are trying to earn an honest living to be trusted for what bay sound like a strange solution to a simple problem. its ok to do it to a rookie during training but, you still have to correct the problem.

Muffler bearings huh?
Thats a new one! There's no such thing. I've heard some good ones, but that's gotta be one of the best ones yet!!
They're lying to you. Just for laughs, you should tell them that your friend said that you should have the winter air removed from your tires & replaced with summer air to see what they do!
WHAT A BUNCH OF RIP OFF A*******!!!!!

Man I hope you are joking. If not, consult another mechanic. These items are only available to State licensed mechanics with a class 3 Commercial Auto mechanics license or better. There are stiff penalties and fines ($500.00 and up or up to 3 months in prison) if you are found in possession of these items without the proper licensing. This would also include headlamp lubricant, accelerator fluid, break belts and the transmission processor chip. If you have any questions, please go see another mechanic. P.S. - If you are having problems with the muffler bearings, you may only need to check the catalytic converter fluid levels. These two problems are very hard to tell apart from one another. PLEASE let a licensed mechanics help you with this. I hope this has helped!

Muffler bearings?
Crack your wallet and your butt wide open when you bring your car to that dealership, I mean stealership.
Mufflers do not have bearings. Mufflers do not rotate.
Point that girly Mustang in the opposite direction of that dealership and floor it.
