I have a 1995 dodge intrepid and when I start my car none of the gauges work and the tranny won't shift . so I have to turn it off and restart it about 5 to 10 times and then it works fine . Does anybody know how to fix this problem?

Sounds to me like the ignition switch is not making good contact with all the wires. Next time it does that try wiggling the key a bit back and forth to see if the guages come on. Be careful not to move it far enough to engage the starter. If the transmission is in drive the starter is not supposed to work, but if the switch is bad it might let the starter engage and grind some parts. I would try it in drive for safety but still be careful. I bet the turn signals don't work either you just might not have noticed that.
Try it and see what happens. I say that because I had one do the same thing.

Good luck...........

Does the engine actually run when this is happening? Sounds like it could be a problem with the ignition lock, thinking the engine is off when it's really on.

Your key switch isn't returning to the "run" position all the way.
Next time you start it, nudge the key backward ever so slightly to see if that works.

You may need a new key switch, or slide.

your best bet is to contact chrysler and tell them the problems your vehicle is having.
