Why do they appear? How do they vanish on their own? Not that Im worried but my week old baby gets hiccups for around 5 minutes and then it vanishes by itself. Researching on some scientific explanation, can you help?

hahaha people put down such silly answers - listen I totally get you!! My daughter gets them at least 2-3 times a day and she hates them sooooo much. She gets so mad from them and the reason isn't because you don't burp either, she gets them when we play ya know when she is excited. You know how children get them when they laugh hard? Same for them. Nothing is wrong with your baby. Mine gets them sometimes for like 10 min or so. I read up on it on some website its not bad at all but if it makes you feel better, let you doc know. I know, you feel so bad for them. And that last comment someone put, burp them till they spit up now thats nuts many times my daughter eats and she NEVER spits up and doesn't get the hicups you are doing just fine

I don't have a scientific explanation but my son gets the hiccups sometimes more than 4 times a day and they last that long too. I asked my doctor and they said they are normal. He hiccuped like crazy when I was pregnant too. I think it might just be one of those crazy things our body does because adults get them randomly too and they would just vanish on there own but we know that they are happening and we cant stand them!

If hiccups are all you have to worry about that's brilliant. Babies tend to like hiccups, comnforts them apparently. Do you remember bubs having hiccups inside you? Mine is at least twice a day! And does not last more than a minute or two.

nicely congrats on the recent addition. and likewise understand that each infant is thoroughly diverse. They bypass with the aid of boost spurts on an identical time as an toddler. So if that's what he likes (eating each hour for 5-10 minutes) then feed him that oftentimes. yet I understand your discomfort. in order that which you're no longer sore, you ought to apply a breast pump and fill some bottles with your breast milk waiting to bypass. His consistent feeding will ultimately get longer and he will sleep longer. Rock him for some till he falls asleep and gently positioned him interior the bassinet. If he wakes up later, do the comparable till he's familiar with that's his napping spot. i know that's complicated yet that's in ordinary terms a newborn for you. I fed my son each 2 hours for 5 months all day and all evening so i know approximately being exhausted. lol solid success.

newborns can have hiccups if they drink milk to quickly, if breastfed give them a couple of minutes rest , if bottle fed burp after having about 1/4 of bottle this will help prevent a disruptive sleep also.

"Babies usually get hiccups because they swallow air when feeding. The stomach gets bigger and squeezes the diaphragm. Sucking hard or eating too much can make hiccups worse. It helps to burp the baby often when feeding. "

According to my son's pediatrician, babies get hiccups because they eat too fast.Hiccups don't bother babies the way they bother us.
