Just give it a rest, your never going to get the guns taken away anyway but heres my thoughts !

As I too feel sad for the victums of the shooting, I sit and wonder if his actions will promote an even greater list of victums. I have heard to much about this already, Im to the point to where I refuse to watch the news because of the non stop bsing going on about what they think they know.

Have any of you ever seen modern day college activity ? Lets say this guy was a loner, and he kept to himself. This would spark many students to:

1. Create rumors and stories about him giving him even a worse rep.

2. Non-stop making fun and aggravating him to the point he is ready to react in this way.

3. Push him futher away giving him self issues resulting in mind issues within himself.

All I have seen in the last 2 days is how we shouldnt have guns. "Guns caused this and America is at risk". So once again I have to devote most of my paycheck to the NRA to help insure that our rights are not removed and or restricted.

If one thinks its right to take guns away because of outbreaks like this, wouldnt it be right to also:

*Take cars off the streets because of the use of them in road rage

*Stop the production of all hollow tube or pipe shaped materials that are used in every pipe bombing.

*Bann chemicals because of their use in posion applications in the past.

*Take away the 1st ammendment for the freedom of speech which has been used aginst others who comment suicide.

*Bann Television which we all know everyone thinks causes kids to grow up to this kind of behavior.

My list will go on for miles and there will be those who say yes to all of them. Isnt enough to view this as what it really is, an unstable mind in an environment that is relentless towards personal feelings.

My views are at best, you shouldnt be able to purchase a firearm without being a US citizen. Green cards are not good enough to allow anyone to purchase a firearm here. Our rights are for us and thats where it stops !

To answer your question, you dont know when someone is going to snap, but just remember, they can use a car, knife, hammer, bomb, sword, or anything else that happens to be there. You people are pissing me off with the gun bann crap. The day they bann guns will be the bloodest day in world history. If you want a war within the US, your on the right track !

*******A Gun is used for several reasons aswell. The Olympics, sport shooting, target shooting both rec and pro, defence. Everyone of those items can be used as they are ment to be or used as a weapon. The firearms can aswell. No one can control the fact that someone will run over you in a car because you pissed them off. The same goes for guns, knives, and anykind of weapon. The problem is not the item, yet the ones using them. I suggest you quit being Ridiculous !!!!! If we were to lobby to bann dogs because they are being trained to kill as a sport, you would look at this differently. You problem is you have nothing to do with guns, therefore it wont hurt your feelings at all to not have them or be a part of the shooting world, but if your dog was gone because some feel they should be you would do what you could to stop it correct ? Not every dog is trained for fights, not every gun is used in murders ! Think about it.

I am a U.S. citizen and I do NOT live in fear. You never know what is going to happen. I did have an experience one time when a gun accidentally went off in a nextdoor apartment and I was home at the time and the bullet went through the wall and into my bathroom. If I had been standing in front of my mirror I could have been hit. It was an accident and it scared me but I didn't press charges and, I moved out of there soon after that happened. Yes, guns can be harmful but I just live one day at a time and I just don't associate with "bad" people and I try to get along with others. Guns are not the answer to solve problems.

No, as an American, I don't live in fear. Yes, there are some lunatics out there that I fear, but if they didn't have guns, they'd probably have knives or something out. There are bad seeds everywhere, whether they have guns or not. I'm just glad that we have the regulations that we do have, and if someone uses a legally registered firearm to commit an offense, whether that person is immediately available or not, then if the weapon is found or can be traced, then at least we have a list to know who it is so that they can apprehend that person.

I think, as a citizen of the US, that we do live in a climate of fear - some of it rational, some of it not.

I work in a public library in a major American city. We have a lot of mentally disturbed people here and they frequently make our jobs hell. Most of them are harmless, talking to themselves and/or gesturing to no one in particular. Some of them do not, on first notice, appear to be disturbed. But then you talk to them and it's obvious they have serious problems.

A couple years ago, I watched the cops draw their weapons on a violent patron. A couple months ago a patron was kicked out for spitting on a staff member (he's been in trouble for the same thing several times in the past). I'm getting hepatitis shots after breaking up a fight (actually it was a racist meth freak who was attempting to strangle one of our security guards).

The problem is very complex. For one thing, when Ronald Reagan stopped providing federal funds for mental hospitals, many of these institutions developed "Greyhound Therapy" - they asked patients where they wanted to go, gave them a bus ticket and $20 and off they went. Many, if not most, came to California because of the climate. So now we have a LOT of mentally ill on our streets. Some of them could be helping themselves by consistently taking their medications. But too often they either forget or just stop taking their meds and they go back to being violent.

The other problem is the proliferation of guns in our culture. Crassly put, America has a hard-on for guns. We love 'em. We love 'em so much that we manufacture (and export) more small arms than any other country in the world. Check out just about any armed conflict in the world and you're bound to find at least some US manufactured weapons.

Do I "live in fear?" Not really, but I guess I do to a certain extent. For example, I don't care how rude a driver is on the freeway ... I would NEVER flip them off, curse at them or give them a dirty look. There are just way too many people out there who are willing to get into physical confrontations over stupid things. For awhile we had several "road rage" incidents where people were shooting at other cars.

I think a lot of people who live outside the US get their perception of our country through popular media. While the action film violence that a lot of people see is rubbish, the ugly, everyday violence is usually overlooked.

No my foreign friend. I sleep much better with my gun.

You use these examples of a crazy neighbor. I'm sorry to say that a crazy neighbor will kill you with a knife, chainsaw, baseball bat, etc....

Weapons do not kill people, people kill other people.

Well I'm not going to win best answer from your question. I just have to say, a lot of Americans have grown up with guns. I have hunted since I was 6 years old. I had B-B guns well before that. There is a part of America that has that same experience. We are not afraid of guns. We are afraid of people taking away the means to hunt and protect our families. I know it's wierd to you. But the world hasn't met the "real" American yet. The world has relied on TV & Movies to gain their opinion of us.

Anyways, great question, and I appreciate you reaching out to try and understand.

As a retired military american I was trained to kill,
sorry to say so the only fear I have is for my family
and I got rid of that fear as I live abroad. America
is not what it used to be and I live there for 40yrs
so I think I would be one of the ones to know, and
having lived abroad for 9yrs, so much killings have
occured in public places in america, I think I made
the right choice. I do not miss america as living
in total peace and harmony with people that is the
country for me. America is not what it stood for
years ago. so many internal problems have
caused havoic that it will take many more years
to get it back right . What a shame. as freedom in
america has caused it to be what it is today, and
to think I fought for freedom and then can't live
in peace helped my make my decision to move.

Nope, why ...Because I own a gun..a quick reflex,a calm rational understanding of my rights and a solid understanding of the law
Outside of that , I also don't live as a victim, I trust and develop relationships with those in my neighborhood.
Most people are not criminals, they are decent hardworking people just trying to get back home and enjoy life.

I do think thought that we need to quit using the criminal justice system as a money making system and prisons as a "storage facility's" for people who need help.
We need more mental health resources and to recognize that not all mental health issues are solved with a drug we see advertised during prime time TV.

This society as a whole needs to remember that community's Are responsible for helping and knowing individuals.

No I don't live in fear but I live in a middle class suburb. I suppose if I lived in the inner city I would be a little more fearful. But on the average people don't go out shooting each other everyday.

No. It's not quite the way here that the news media makes it appear during a tragedy such as the one at VT.
