all the students had taken up their right to bear arm. Everyone would have pulled a gun, and since most of them would not be marks men and fairly inexperienced at using a gun, between badly aimed shots made by terrified students and riccoshaying bullets it would have been a blood bath.

I’ve seen on TV programmes where both British and American police do tests of sorts. Scenarios where they are shown a video or do play acting. These examine there ability to use fire arms in emergency situations. Very often these test show that the policemen fire at the wrong targets or fire inappropriately. One of these test things was on the news recently, before the campus shooting. Despite the highly trained nature of both police forces these sought of things have always demonstrated that in emergencies even the well trained can act in erratic manner making the use of fire arms very dangerous.

Don't be foolish- People are not able to have a concealed weapon permit without lots of firearm practice. You learn to shoot from cover and concealment. It would take only one well placed shot to eliminate the threat. Didn't you see Starwars I? Every person is not able to get a CCW for pete sakes- only those that meet the skill levels and have had the law training. It takes 4-6 hours of schooling and 6+ hours of range time. Then the instructors issue a certificate that must be taken to the police dept for consideration. If you pass you get your right to carry. In Michigan it takes approx 6 weeks. Blood bath? Why let the felon use all his ammo? If your going to die for something put some passion into it.

I live in Va., and just 30 miles from VT. To get a permit to carry a concealed weapon in this state, you must have had firearms training. But, since Tech declared itself fire-arms free, one would not be able to carry a gun on campus.

There was an excellent editorial in the Wall Street Journal pointing out that in so-called gun free places, the fact that law-abiding citizens can't bear arms, leads to more dead. Remember the shopping mall killing a few months ago. What kept the bloodbath to a minimum was an off-duty cop who ignored the gun-free thing.

Maybe if a few law-abiding people on campus had guns, the psycho woulda been taken out before he killed so many.

One of the responsibilities a person must be willing & able to accept when purchasing a weapon is its correct use. This means a safety class & actual experience i.e. target practice with the weapon. So saying everybody pulls out their piece & starts blasting away is very irresponsible.

For the love of god, stop using a senseless tragedy to promote your political views. Shame on you.
