1500 Chevy HD air purifing system rattles is there a pump somewhere?

The port above the drivers door rattles. It sounds like there is a pump that pulls air. whre is it and can i disable it?

I think you are talking about a small vent above your head if you are sitting in the driver's seat. Is that right? If it is, this is a small fan assemble complete with motor that we had trouble keeping the noise down. The only thing it does is draw air across a sensor that is used for the HVAC system. You have to pull the headliner down a little; just enough to access the connector to either unplug it or replace it. Good luck.
