Good question, personally speaking and depending on situation and how it is handled, I can go from one day to a week and a half, then the shock hits, at full speed. Interestingly enough, there's a sense of serenity when the brain starts functioning again; an upside down world may mean one thing to me and vice versa to someone else- it's the static electricity of emotions that get to me, and frankly, a blessing at times and a curse at others. I apologize for long reply though.

Lt. I have had mine turned upside down. I caught my ex in the sack with another officer when I came home sick one day. He worked for the same department, just a different district so I didn't know him. That ruined me for a while and changed me forever. I am over it and I have remarried and even had two wonderful daughters now, but the memory still lingers. I think it has always made me have a little seed of doubt.

I have had this happen several times....a couple of them were real bad times. When this happens, I have found it helps just to slow down and really think about solutions to fix the problem or solutions to cope. The more you pull your thoughts together, the easier it is to get through a difficult time. I have been through deaths of loved ones, job loss,an abusive marriage....a messy divorce and child custody court battles. There were times, I wanted to just give up but I kept going and everything eventually worked out .

Yes I certainly have...for better of for worse...but I got over it.
It took a few years to get over the worse. Hard work at something meaningful helps a lot. Say a prayer for perseverance....
For the good stuff, go with the flow and enjoy but stay humble.

several times - going through a pretty major one right now. Like Madonna, I try and re-invent myself. Sometimes it takes a year, sometimes a month. Change is inevitable & part of life

Mom died at the age of 46. It was very sudden and I do not know if life will ever be the same.

It takes a while for that axis to return to its original position, that's for sure...I think it differs for each person, It took me years to get over the death of my dad, at 13. That rocked my world!
