Yes I remember my mom being beat real bad and when the cops came they was out laughing with my dad, with her face bleeding, her eye black, her mouth busted open her hair ripped out and her face swollen, and all they said is for him to go get some rest.when he locked us all out in the snow they did nothing. I am glad it is not like that today

In some areas it still isn't taken seriously. My ex beat the heck out of me on numerous occasions. My neighbors finally tired of hearing it called the cops. When the cops showed up, instead of following protocol, talked to us together in the same room. All the while the cop was asking us questions my ex had his hand gripped tightly to the back of my neck, giving me a squeeze periodically to let me know to be careful as to how I answered the questions. I felt helpless. There was also the occasion where his co-workers said," It's about time you put her in her place. What took so long?" And finally when I left him I had to file a PFA (which means: you have to be Pretty Fudging As sinine to have filed one because they are useless), when leaving the courthouse he assaulted me. The cop handling it told him not to worry about it, he'd handle it. The cop only filed harrassment charges (even though it took 3 men to pull him off of me) and then never showed up for the hearing which lead to a not guilty.
So beware of coal towns if you are a woman, wife beating is still allowed here.

Yeah but a lot of wife "beating" is taken way out of context these days. You're in jail for raising your voice to your wife, it's ridiculous.

Yes I do, I remember seeing the mother of a friend come home from hospital in a wheel chair due to injuries sustained from a beating...oh wait a minute...it was a "nasty fall".

Yeah, those days are long gone and it's definitely a good thing. Violence of any kind should always be taken seriously.

Yup and I'm sure glad times have changed becuase men should never hit women no matter the reason or excuse. They should be charged and jailed.
