recently i had to do an essay whether schools should have english classes for immigrants. i say they should. why not? it makes communicating better and easier and there would be no need for translators. however others feel that if you're going to come to a country you should at least already know the language. what do you think?

I think that English classes for immigrants is a great idea and should be required.

If I were to move to Germany, not knowing German, that would be my fault, right? I wouldn't expect the Germans to put everything in English to bow to my needs... I would have to learn German to live there successfully.

I know that America was built on immigration, but seriously.. if you are going to move to a country, you should know the language at least enough to communicate decently.

That is one immigration idea that I will get behind! That said, I think WE should provide them with the means of learning. People get so ticked off about some immigrants' inability to speak the language... but then they provide NO opportunity to teach them the language skills they need. It is a double standard. I, for one, volunteer in my community to teach people who cannot speak English. It has been really rewarding for me, as well as the people I teach. The ability to learn English does not appear out of a hat. You have to provide these people with the tools and resources to do it. They do not have it where they come from. Anything short of this is hypocrisy.

There is a intent we have now an immigration workplace of the federal government. They enable handiest the quantity of immigrants in that our nation can efficaciously harbor. They take into accounts the price to our society of aiding the immigrants as they assimilate. They are supplied English as a moment language categories, elementary US historical past so they are able to cross the charter experiment, paintings visas and social safeguard playing cards so they are able to get authorized jobs, drivers license, signal contracts, purchase estate, and many others. When you input illegally, you're denied all of those matters until you acquire them illegally. I do not wish humans fitting citizens on this nation that don't wish to gain knowledge of and embody our charter, pay taxes, gain knowledge of the language and be upstanding residents. As for the roles they maintain at $sixteen.00 an afternoon, the ones farmers, contractors, and cleansing jobs will need to lift their fees so they are able to pay a tight salary. And the grunt jobs may also be performed by way of young adults- might be if extra of our young adults are out running for low wages they'll be much less chubby, extra thankful for what they've, much less willing to get into problem with medications or gangs and too worn out to sass their mother and father. I am a hardworking, unmarried mom of four children. I have by no means used welfare, used meals stamps, medicaid or public help. I have paid taxes all my lifestyles and in twenty years while I am competent to retire, social safeguard advantages WHICH I'VE PAID FOR will probably be nearly non-existent, to not point out medicare, considering that of the drain at the method the unlawful immigrants are inflicting. Who will help ME then? I am no longer heartless and will fully grasp why humans wish to come back her, however by way of permitting this and not using a prohibit, our nation will ultimately be as dangerous as wherein they got here from. What can we do then?

Of course. If they don't speak English they will get no where in school and they won't be able to get a good job to support themselves, which means we'll (the taxpayers) have to support them.
