We do have a culture that glorifies violence, whether we like to admit it or not.
How can a man who sings about popping a cap in a copper become a hero? That guy would be a clown in Europe.

There are a number of things wrong with America. Firstly, the country and culture glorifies guns and allows them to be readily accessible. Secondly, the country is over religious, bordering on fanaticism and this affects the views and attitudes of the people including political leaders. Thirdly, most Americans think that their culture and society is perfect whereas they suffer many faults. Fourthly, many Americans are insular, and know little about other countries, cultures and religions -- as one can see from many of the questions being asked on this forum. Last, but not least, Americans think their country is a democracy and is something to export to other countries around the world, whereas the USA is not a good example of democracy -- its voting system is flawed, only well connected or rich people can gain high office and corruption is everywhere. Racism is rife, murder is common, many laws are unjust. The government has, and still is, interfered in the affairs of other countries and violated untold international laws, treaties and agreements which have led to several wars -- (violating the Potsdam agreement led to the cold-war over Germany and the Korean war : Not honouring a verbal agreement over Vietnam led to the First Indochina War : violating the 1954 Geneva Agreements directly led to the Second Indochina War == Vietnam War just to name a few).

That "South Korean" guy had grown up here, went to school and college here. His place of birth is a bigoted inclusion in a tragedy that should be examined without prejudice. Copy cats happen, especially in these days when so many people wait breathlessly for their fifteen minutes of fame and being Hollywood "special", your American Idol mentality. What's wrong with America? We have a lying drunken thug for a President who invaded two nations for the plunder of oil. We have a Vice-President who shot a colleague while killing small animals for jollies. We had a Secretary of Defense who quibbled PUBLICLY over what is "acceptable" torture and what isn't. ("Acceptable" torture?!) If it's OK for our national leaders to conduct themselves like that, exactly what kind of message do you think that sends to the feebleminded sheep who would vote such a despicable paradigm into leadership?

My theory is the IQ of any group is inverselly proportional to the size of the number of people in the group.
More people in the group, the less intelligent they are.
Right now we have more people in the world than ever before, You cannot control the acts of people and still have a free society.
Ultimately I think it just comes down to people not knowing between right and wrong or just not careing.
Personallly I think that if this happens again and everytime it happens they break the shooters kneecaps and triggerfingers instead of killing them so the next would be assailant sees they won't be a martyr. they will be in the hospital, in pain, and then in a 8x8 cell for life.
Flight 93 was a great example of what happens when people stand up for themselves and think about others instead of running in fear.

I'm sure there will be "copycats". Guns are so accessible here in the US, that just because someone has had a bad day, they can shoot up their school, job or family.
The right to bear arms is a freedom here in this country, but our founding fathers were talking about a different type of weapon in a different type of world. People want instant gratification, so because they hate the world, they want to make the world pay-instantly.

What's wrong is that as the country is getting more and more advanced, everything is becoming more and more impersonal and people are beginning to lack human compassion. Examples are people break up with each other through text messaging, people order in food instead of leaving the house, and etc. This can overwhelm the weak people who dont know how to handle themselves. Still, it is no excuse to kill anyone.

America attracts demented, sick, violent individuals without moral values and our society even produces them itself in much great numbers than ever before in history. In some ways it is becoming more and more undesirable to live in the U.S., I was born and raised here and I love the beauty of it but I think the question is what is wrong with some of the PEOPLE?

Yeah....well the less crazy people alive, the better. I'll be staying at home for now until it's safe again.
But to add in my 2 cents, if you really think about it, the children in the Middle East learn how to become suicide bombers since they were little, so compare to them, these shooters are not so crazy on the wacko scale.

To start with we have a wimp for a president that has gotten
pretty good at hiding behind his bodyguards, Then there is always Congress trying to make it illegal to own a gun but, the harder they try the more people will get one if they haven't already. Last there is the lunatics that already own guns, they are going to get things they're way whether you or anyone else likes it. I would suggest getting your own gun and adding
some lead to the next idiot's diet.

Because america is involved in two foreign wars,
Irag and Afganastan, all the monies are going to
these wars and internal problems have been put
on hold because there is not enough money to go
ahead with people intervention problems thus
causing what is happening now. Bush has his nose
so far away from the country that he himself does
not realize what is going on in america. Until
america starts solving issues in it's own turf and
quit sticking their nose in others' countrys
business, america will always be on the losing
side.
