Anxiety is a normal part of flying for most people. Likely, this is the result of the intense media coverage given to airplane crashes and the catastrophic results the crash itself usually entails.
In all reality, you have about a 1 in 2,000,000 chance of dying in an airplane crash... compare that to a 1 in 7 chance of dying of cancer or a 1 in 120 chance of dying by suicide.
That being said, try to keep the flight's dangers in perspective, pay attention to safety information given by the stewardesses, and breath deeply. Try to distract yourself with reading material or a nap during the flight itself. If you find yourself needing to fly more often in the future, consider talking to a therapist or taking anti-anxiety medicines.

If you must fly, try not sleeping the day before as long as you can, so you'll sleep on the flight, or get a mild sleeping aid, or have a drink on board to relax you to go to sleep, if you are able.
Sleep is the best answer because your mind can't make you think of crashing while you are sleeping !

Don't worry so much! I have put together some facts to make you feel better.
--- More people die each year from "Donkeys" than aeroplanes.
---Aircraft are the result of years of painstaking research and development and they are built to withstand forces and uses far beyond those that are allowed or even likely to occur in normal airline operation. The fact is that an aircraft will operate within a tiny band of its actual capabilities.
Hope this helps! And have fun on your trip! sit back and enjoy the flight!

Think that you are going home. Take some music u like an mp3 or magazine to read. You know best, something you will enjoy to do when you are in the air. Your are going HOME. People you want to see will be at the airport. I have being 12 different airplane from Mexico to San Fransisco. Knowing there are people at the airport i want to see keeps my mind on good memorizes.

the really big planes don't feel scary, just like a smooth car ride, but the smaller planes feel every bit of turbulence and wind channels, where u feel every dip and bump. i hate flying thru a storm cuz it feels like your gonna crash, but the flight attendants act like it's just normal. i always try to have a drink to relax myself when i have 2 fly. or if im lucky 2 get some valium, i take that .

You should be more scared of crashing on the way to the airport, after all you are more likely to die on the drive than the flight.
There is nothing to worry about, it's an irrational fear. Children have irrational fears.
