No in truth they never did. This is something that I prefer. I find it a pleasure to obey my husband. That's the best way I can answer this question; it's a pleasure to regard a man as the supreme head of house who struggles each and every day so that I can have a roof over my head, food on the table. This is something that is coming from deep within my own heart. Yes, that's exactly how I look at it. I wish that all women would, cuz you know it isn't all that hard.

No they did not. They just lived it and set that example for me. He worked and made enough money to keep us all in a big home and she kept the homefires well under control. I do not remember him EVER insisting on obedience because it was not necessary. Such insistence should not be necessary if a couple are compatible and work well together.
However the world is a different place and my daughters were brought up a bit differently. They both agree with this philosophy but they also have good careers as a fall back. They also both work in traditional "men's work"... high end computer sciences.

No my father left when I was little, which taught me that you cannot depend on a man for your well-being and happiness. A woman should be able to stand on her own, and if she is lucky enough to find a man to stand with her, thats just icing on the cake.
You really need to grow up sandstorm. I hope you NEVER have daughters. There are already enough beaten down women in this world.

No way! My mom was the head of the household and her mom before that by necesssity, so why should my house be any different? My marriage is fine just as it is. Either one of us takes the lead whenever necessary.
By the way, the Bible says that a husband and wife should submit to one another, not one over the other. Whatever works is how you do it.

I wouldn't say they "taught me" but they sure did SHOW me that the husband is the head of house hold and deserves to be respected and obeyed. Children learn best by the action of there parents that they watch and see day in and day out. You can talk and talk and talk and it wont do anything unless they see it first hand by they way you act.

No. I was raised to be my own boss and to always be able to take care of myself and my children if the need ever arose. I stopped the wedding ceremony when they got to obey, and said wait I don't obey, Honor cherish anything but obey.

Nope. I'm not married (nor do I want to be at such a young age) but I would have to be in charge of certain things like the finances. I'm good at that sort of thing (right now I run my own small business) so I would trust no one but myself with it.

Yes. But I think the word is honor not obey. However, if he's not taking his rightful place he better not expect me to take mine.
