It seems that he expects more from you. He wants you to be professional. A lot of companies will not hire you when you chew gum and as a result when you go on interviews you are told not to chew gum or smoke (at least when I was in school this was the preparation I was given). I never chewed gum at work because I spent a lot of time on phones and it would not be polite to chew gum in someone's ear. As for asking him questions that are work related, he may feel that you should already now this answer if you have been with the company for 6 years. I think it is time to get some more training and find another job. Look into colleges that offer training and then get that training and then look for another job. Also, get a degree in something (it could be an Associates Degree or a Bachelors in something you enjoy) and this may help you go farther in whatever you want to do.

i hope you realize you've opened yourself up for criticism, constructive though it may be. i have to say that if your communication skills are reflected here in your question, you're lucky to still have a job there. as to the chewing gum while you're trying to have an intelligent conversation with your supervisor is never an intelligent move. it's equal to eating or drinking and it's very annoying to try to communicate with someone who is unable to express herself or himself clearly because a wad of gum or other substance is in their mouth. how old are you? do you have a degree? what is your role in the company you work for? if you're in public relations or sales, i'd be surprised if you are successful, again, if this question is reflective of your "live" attempts at communication. i hope this helped you. good luck to you.

i dont think you should have been offended by the gum chewing.. he asked nicely even if he said it in a mean way.. other things you should ask him straight up
"why are you always so frustrated at me?"

Sounds like a personality conflict. I liked my boss my first season there. All my co-workers warned me that she's a snake in the grass. I found out they were correct in my second season there. Now, I can't stand to be anywhere around her. I've caught her in too many lies.

If he acts like that with you only, then he has something against you; you should try to find a new job, because he is short tempered and rude.
If he acts like that with everyone else, just try to avoid him as much as you can.

I think the guy's uptight...
I say that you should talk to him and tell him how you feel about this. If he still acts this way, I would try and find another job and quit working there. Don't work somewhere where you aren't appreciated.
