The word "Utopia" is derived from the Greek words eu ("good") and ou ("no"), combined with the word topos ("place"). Thus it is a both "a good place" and "no place." Our modern definition of Utopia refers to an ideal place and existence in which social and economical conditions are ideal, a type of livable Eden free from conflict and filled with serenity. But, due to the very nature of the word as it was derived from the Greek, Utopia illustrates a fictitious place that does not or maybe cannot exist. Hope this helps!

utopia is the land of make believe happiness. a country or a system which might happen if people were ideal creatures. Several political systems were created based on such assumptions- the most notable examples being communism (Mao tse tung, Stalin, Pol pot) and religious dictatorships (Taliban, Khomeini)
The problem with utopia is that it only exists in the spirit of philosophers. Or in the twisted minds of dictators.

Utopia (from Greek: τόπος, place, i.e. "no place" or "place that does not exist") is an imaginary island, depicted by Sir Thomas More as a perfect social, legal, and political system. It may be used pejoratively, to refer to a society that is unrealistic and impossible to realize. It has also been used to describe actual communities founded in attempts to create an ideal society.

Utopia is a perfect society. In reality its impossible, because Utopia means everyone is equal and everthing is perfect in the sense of equity.
