what we want them to be?

Loving someone is about accepting them. ALL of them, good, bad, indifferent, fantastic, aweful.

Maybe you need to look inside yourself and see is it really love.

Note: True love also means that you can let them go for them to be happy if need be

You can only love someone if you are more than OK with the person they really are, and not with the person you want them to be. If you are supposedly in love with someone that you want them to be a certain way you are kidding yourself (your living a hurtful illusion, for both).

Live a life worth living, live a real and rewarding life where you love someone just as they are, and they love you just as you are.

Success!

You should love them for who they are, not who you want them to be. Otherwise you're loving an image of them that you project, and not the real person in front of you.

Minor flaws are flexible, but a core personality is the center of a person.

I love the man I am with for who he is, I dont want him to change anything. On the other hand he said he loved me for me and asked me to change every part of my being from the make up i wore to the way i spoke. I dont know me anymore but i wish i still had the girl i was when we met, if i did i dont think i would still be here. I like him, thought he was great but maybe i am just as dumb as a rock i dont know

As an adult, you bet. We have to be tolerant of those things we love about someone as well as those things (as long as they are not dangerous) we do not. Just because you want someone to be something else doesn't mean you get your way. We each have our ways and if you really love someone you must let them find their own way. You can only dictate your own behaviour and choices, not someone elses.
