The best team in the NBA right now is the Dallas Mavericks. First off, they have the best record in the NBA and almost tried to break history with winnign 70+ games, they came close. Second off, they starting line up is awesome and don't forget about their bench; Jerry Stackhouse and Devin Harris. An unbelievable team.
Some people say that the Suns are the best, but how come they haven't even made it to the NBA Finals and have the same team for the past 2 years. There team isn't strong enough to make it all the way to the Finals.
Others say San Antonio is the best team. If they are why isn't their record good. They are 3rd the West, and are too old of a team to make it all the way to the Finals.

Record-wise, it is obviously Dallas, who has a chance to tie the 6th best record in league history. They have both amazing offensive firepower and defensive stoppers.
However, Dallas has a list of notable chokers (Dirk, Howard, Terry) therefore making a collapse similar to last season possible.
Despite having the third-best record in the West, I think San Antonio is clearly the best team right now since they have the offensive power from Parker and have some of the best defensive players in Duncan and Bowen. Also, they have a great coach in Popovich and have clutch shooters.
They way the Spurs have turned their A-game on since the All-Star Break is very impressive as well, and if they played this way all season, they would be fighting Dallas for the number one seed right now.

Indiana Pacers! Even though they SUCK, i'm still gonna stick by them not like all these gay bandwaggon hoppers. The Heat is the perfect example of this, with everybody suddenly becoming a fan after Dwade emerged and Shaq came. (except of course for the ones who still supported the team when they were in the lottery)
