Is it morally wrong to hurt another human being to obtain information even though that information is more than likely false. And, is it credible to boycott and chastize other countries for doing the same?
Please think it through before answering.

It is morally wrong to obtain information through torture. And you are correct, information obtained through torture is, at best, unreliable.
It is credible to boycott and chastize other countries for torturing. And it is equally credible, if not necessary, for us to chastize our own government for getting involved in it. After all, in America the government is supposed to represent the will of the citizens. If it is doing otherwise, it needs to be clearly chastized and those initiating and carrying out torture penalized.

Breaking a horse, and making it do what you want. Is that morally wrong?
Depends on if you are the horse, or the buckaroo!

It is credible to put sanctions on another country to get them to comply. Opec did that to us in the seventies. They held us hostage. Usually countries that have sanctions placed on them don't contribute to society outside their own. Except death and destruction.

Torture is not only wrong it's stupid. You can't get reliable information from torture. Sure - if the guy you're torturing does know something then he MIGHT give it up under torture. Or he might feed you a load of lies. The only way to find out is to keep torturing him until he goes insane and can't tell you anything more.

A similar thing would occur if someone actually was innocent and didn't know anything. If you were only going to stop torturing them once they told you what you wanted to know then he'd make something up - anything just to stop it.

Torture is not something civilized nations should ever resort to. It's one step away from taking away every other freedom we enjoy for the sake of 'security'. Unfortunately many people don't care until it's them in the breaking chair.

Would I condone torture of a terrorist if the information he were to give would save thousands even hundreds of lives? I approve of it under extreme circumstances, especially when dealing with terrorists and our national security is at stake!

For example, there is a nuclear bomb somewhere in New York City, not to mention you and your family live there, and one of the terrorists that planted the bomb was caught. There is 10 hours left before the bomb goes off and the terrorist isn't talking! If detonated the bomb would kill millions of people, now do you think the torture of one individual for informatin on stopping the bombs detonation is necessary to save the lives of millions, plus save the government trillions of dollars in recontruction and disaster relief money? I sure as hell do!

clearly you have actually thought about it. Everyone that could get captured is trained to lie at various points in the interogation. Its clearly wrong and the US has lost the moral highground because of this issue. Its clear Europe despite its long history of torture and the Holocaust has surpassed us in moral development!!!

Yes, torture is wrong, and I'd say pretty darn pointless because like you said, the given info has a pretty high chance of being false.

Let me ask you something. If the information we were able to obtain saved your life specifically and the life of your family, would you really care? Let's be honest here. Really honest, not what you think everyone wants to hear honest. I think you are the one that needs to do a little thinking on this one.

of course it wrong and information gained from it is not credible , this isn't the movies where a bomb would go off in 6 seconds and we have to torture someone to get the location , that is fantasy land .

Man if this isn't a bias question I don't know what is..

No torture isn't wrong. What if you get the information you need to save millions of lives? is it wrong then. Stop looking at it with emotions, look at it with logic.
