The VT shooting is a horrific tragedy, and being in college it has rocked our community culture for sure. But do you think that bleeding heart America is being a bit inconsistent?
I know this took place on American soil and is horrible (I'm not trying to take away from that), but we have 30+ Americans die every day in Iraq (most of which are only barely 18years old), plus millions of others that die in more horrific ways all over the world, but I don't see stadiums packed with prayer groups for that...
Are we being irrational about the VT incident, or at least inconsistent? Is the rest of the world who has to deal with car bombings on an everyday basis, laughing at our "out of sight, out of mind" approach to tragedy?
Like i said not trying to sounds like an asshole with this question, the incident affected all of us, I am just making an observation...

The rich only care about the deaths of other rich kids, not about the deaths of poor US troops or the deaths of the poor in other countries.

I was thinking you were going to compare the VT deaths to the 100s of innocent civilians in Iraq killed in the market place by suicide bombers.

When a person chooses to go into the army, they know the risks. As tragic as their deaths are, it is not as tragic as kids sitting in their classroom, ready to learn. Their deaths are senseless. You may disagree with us being over in Iraq, but at least acknowledge the goal is to create a free Iraq. So their deaths are sacrifices for freedom.

This is why I think the civilians killed in Iraq by Islamic extremists are a better comparison. These nuts target weddings, funerals, bus stations & market places. The civilian deaths aren't "colateral damage." They are the targets. These are not military targets.
