I am a school teacher, a Hispanic, a retired military man, and a Republican. Although many will not agree with me, this is why I'm a republican.
I think for the most part, Democrats look at government and ask, what can government give me? What programs, what benefits, what money, what housing, what rulings will government make that will satisfy me. They look at government to solve all the evils in their world.
I think for the most part, Republicans look at government and ask, what can government do to leave me alone? Let me keep most of the money I honestly earn, let me compete in today's world without government intervention. They look at government to protect the nation with police, firemen and a strong military. Beyond that, they don't want government in their day to day life.
For these and many more reasons, I'm a republican. And, yes although I'm a Hispanic, I'm against illegal immigration, I'm tired of Democrats attempting to get their power by promising give away programs to minority communities. Democrats feel that minorities are not good enough to make it on our own merits and that mostly infuriates me.

Joe Lieberman is the only Democrat in Washington I would vote for. I wouldn't claim the Republican party either unless I was forced to pick one.

Republican. Why? Because I stand for everything they believe in. Are their problems with the Rep Party? Sure there is, no denying it...same with the Dems. I also think the Dems are always looking for a hand out and don't want to work hard to make a wage, but let others work their butts off to support them. Sorry, that's just the way I view it. And I think Bush is doing fine in the White House and we should be in Iraq....can't wait to see how many thumbs down I'll get for that one, but that's what I think. Also I think Republicans are more go getter, deal with the problems people than Dems.

I try not to base my beliefs on party lines, but I most of the time vote Republican. In my opinion, they know how to run a country. The liberal ideals would run our country into the ground.

I'm a Democrat, even though I think parties don't mean a thing about who you truly are.
I'm a Democrat because I actually like the planet Earth. I like seeing people protect the environment or help in some way to spread the word (ehem, Al Gore).
I'm a Democrat because I don't like war. Republicans do basically all they can to start a war (ehem, George W. Bush).
I'm a Democrat because, if you look at some of our Republican presidents, one started a war (Dubya), and another ordered people to break into the Democratic National Committee HQ in Watergate (Tricky D--k).
Look at some of our Democrat presidents. Franklin Delano Roosevelt led us through The Great Depression and through WWII. Bill Clinton made our ecomony go over the roof, and he helped in earning support for the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
That is why I'm a Democrat. I think that it is wrong if somebody gives me a thumbs down because I'm a Democrat.

A Republicrat, any more. I have to split my votes between the parties to try and find a balance.
I will not be a Green. They seem to not have human neccessity in mind.
A Socialist, relies on too much dictation.
Actually, I left the party affiliation blank when I registered to vote last time and got a nice card that said I was a Repubican. It showed me that someone refused to honor my wishes.
