Yes. Target offers better employment opportunities than Wal*mart. Their stores are cleaner, better stocked, and their employees are always much friendlier.

Plus, some of the most barbaric aspects of the human race can be seen in a Wal-Mart. You've heard the stories, or like me, have witnessed them firsthand. Once this man soiled himself at a Wal-Mart, and on another, a woman tried on brassieres outside a dressing room.

They also destroy small businesses, which leads to urban decay. And personally, I prefer small businesses over large-box retailers. But if I have to save money, I'll go to a Target or K-Mart.

I hate Walmart because it's becoming a monopoly and a blight. There used to be a variety of smaller independent stores that had similar products but couldn't match the prices because they were smaller. They had to close and it's like Walmart just swallowed them up. Everything is becoming the same and it sucks, not to mention the stores are always grungy and smelly. Even though people of all kinds shop there Walmart seems to cater to the lowest common denominator of society--people with no manners or common sense.
Target is only slightly better. At least most of the Target stores I've been in have been clean. I HATE their commercials though.

I'll step off my soapbox now...

Why do I dislike wal-mart? Oh, let me count the ways. First, I live in Fayetteville, AR less than 20 miles from the Wal-Mart headquarters. If you don't know anybody that works at wal-mart, then you don't know many people. I'd much rather shop at Target or local grocers. I like Target because they've stayed ahead of the curve in providing a trendy current brand of stock. Any of the major chains are the same though. It's just a preference. People dog wal-mart for underpaying their workers, but you'll get underpaid in retail almost anywhere you go. Target doesn't pay much higher.

Hate is a strong word, but....

1. They under insure their employees forcing them to go on Medicaid, which is a cost to the tax payers.

2. They import a lot of products from 3rd world countries that have no Child labor protections and work people at slave wages.

3. It, as well as all other Mega-stores, have almost done way with the small local business owner.

As for Target, or any other store owned by Federal Department Stores, Inc. (Macy's, Old Navy, etc.), I no longer shop at because of similar practices.

Ah Walmart...the place that I hate to shop the most. I love the prices but I hate the fact that I feel like I have to watch my back and have to deal with other customers who've never learned how to be polite.

Target is a bit better.

Walmart,in recent years anyway, has come to represent the BEAST of all corporate evil...I myself worked 5 years for them doing Shoplifting Prevention,Electronics...It was NOT much fun--UNTIL I decided to STOP taking things sooooooooooo seriously! THEN it became "MY store" and I gained quite a few loyal customers...But I had to quit blaming Walmart for MY attitude! If Walmart was,and is, up to no good, they will suffer accordingly...Target has got such a slick Ad Campaign that sends the message,"Hey--WE are cool--Wally isn't"...Walmart has to lose the backwoods image it has maintained....Oh-and treat their employees with the HIGHEST RESPECT. PERIOD....'Nuff Said~~~~~~~~~snoopy

I have a love/hate relationship with Wal-mart. I love them right now because they offer highly competitive prices and sell nearly everything under the sun in one building. However, I had toyed with the idea of opening my own business one day, and there is no way I will ever be able to compete.
