Unfortunately, New York State has no real way of conferring an 'emancipated minor' status like many other states can.
The way the law is structured there, if you are 16 years old, living on your own, and financially independant then you can be considered independant as a matter of fact, and given some of the rights of an adult.
You are not required to go to court. You will not be placed in foster care (part of being independant). Your parents will still retain some very limited control, and may still be legally bound to provide some support or even compansation, depending on your situation.
Here's a good website with relevant information:

No. 18 is legal age.
At 16 you can, under law, and with parental permission, drop out of high school.
You CAN look into "emancipation". That will mean you are no longer the responsibility of your parents, BUT you WILL be a ward of the state and probably be put in an orphanage and/or with foster parents who may be a LOT worse than what you've got now. They could beat or rape you. Do you want to roll the dice that badly? Do you want to risk the orphanage being in a school district far from your friends?
Think about it. You only got two years to go. And no matter how you feel, I think you know that deep down your parents really do love you.

I live in CT and I moved out when I was 16. It was a very unhealthy environment. My mother contacted the police, but they didn't make me go back home. In New York, you do have to be 18, but I don't know how strictly that is enforced.
I don't know what your situation is, but if you aren't being abused or mistreated in any way, i would suggest staying put. It's not an easy road to take and not one I would suggest unless absolutely necessary.

Actually its 15. I dont know why you'd want to, and it would be tough to get a job and a place to live, much less food or clothing, and you still cant get your own school stuff in order, so if you leave the district, you cant enroll elsewhere. But technically you can leave right now. However, your parents can also file a PINS petition and then you have to stay with them or a group home.

it's definatlye not 16 in Colorado, here it is 18, that is when you leagally become an adult and are free to leave home. If you are in a dangerous home though (i.e. abusive, drug or acholholics) then you can get emancipated. But even then you would be sent to a foster home or something. Sorry i know i suck at spelling...
