Most police here in the UK don't even carry guns as there aren't so many in public circulation, or if there are, there aren't so many people willing to use them.

Less guns = less dead people.

You can buy guns alongside your breakfast cereal, which is just plain nuts, even though I'd like to own a gun. Fact is, if I owned a gun, I'd probably end up using it = another dead person & another jail space taken.

Any instrument designed to kill is just not a sensible thing to have so easily available, esp in a country with so many fruit loops.

However, on the flipside - I think each and every non-muslim should arm themselves to defend themselves from the spread of islam. Muslims are winning a war without fighting, by taking up jobs in our security companies, police forces, intelligence agencies - they're everywhere, undermining our security at every given opportunity, the mosque being somewhere they go, literally, religiously every Friday. We're the kuffar, they want islam to dominate the world & wipe us out - once they get strong enough in numbers they'll try it. Has anyone noticed that muslims are outbreeding the rest of the world 5:1? It's FACT that they will eventually outnumber us, in numbers and determination. F*cking mad bastards.

I don't think it should be so easy.

I know that if it wasn't so easy that people who really really really wanted to kill would find a way to get one. But I truly believe if it were more difficult then it would cut down on some of the tragedies.

They say people kill people guns don't kill people. But if you do any research on Longevity you'll find that if you own a gun it takes it takes years off of your life b/c of the possibility of an accidental shooting.

I just hate the thought of someone who has a gun for protection and they have a bad break up or lose someone to death sitting in their home knowing that there is a gun in the house and they can easily end their life.

I DON'T WANT THAT OPTION. I don't believe that I would ever do anything like that; but no one knows what they are capable of.

It's just way too scary.

I feel like this nation is falling under. I mean, if anyone can go out and get a gun and take the training, that doesnt stop them from killing or hurting people. Im not scared of the fact that theres psycho people here, im just scared that the psycho people have access to guns! Another thought: people say that they want guns for protection, but no one ever hears about people defending themselves successfully with guns!! we really need to do something about this, but with the current government, it doesnt look too good.

Ah, the old saying goes:

Guns don't kill people, people kill people.

However, people kill people with guns. No guns, no killings with guns. Since guns were introduced into warfare and society, the number of dead in conflicts have increased dramatically. It is too easy to kill someone with a gun, too impersonal.

Why do people think it is their right to own a gun? Hunting? Perhaps. To take the lives of other people? A big no-no.

Anyhow, this is probably going to be a pointless discussion.

Well personally I don't think that it is a good idea. I think that they need to know more about the person that is buying the gun. Especially after what happened at Virginia Tech. That affected a lot of people and if we want to try and prevent tragedys like that we need to start doing something about it. And a good way is to not just start selling guns to whoever wants to buy one.

I am an avid American gun owner, and I like having the ability to own guns easily. I think that instead of making the guns harder to get, the politicians should make the penalties for misuse harsher.

in the UK they dont have as many guns,
and I admit... not as many people get shot.

ever read the reports about the number of people
who get stabbed and beaten with bats?

when I was there back in the 90's there was a riot
a cop got stabbed in the neck soooooo many times
he was decapitated..... im talking pocket knives here
and in a huge crowd.... no one stopped it.....
like 300-400 times in just a minute or two.
witnesses said it was like 3-4 people doing it...
but last I heard.. they were never caught.
--------------------------------------
when you are in a bank, and a guy walks in,
wearing a long coat, looking over his shoulder nervous.
would you rather be in a state where its illigal to carry,
and hes prob the only one?
OR
would you rather be somewhere where there
are probably 20 people with a pistol in their belt,
but no one knows for sure.

If I thought even 3 of the 15 people in the bank I was
about to rob had guns, I'd think twice about pulling mine
out first. wouldnt you?

Uh, dude, Second Amendment. The right to bear arms.

If you ban guns only the mentally ill bad guys will have guns. Virginia Tech is a gun free zone. The police don't wear any.

As a law abiding gun owner, I would not mind filing papers and awaiting approval to buy a gun if it would make it harder for criminals to get them.

BTW: Hunters are on the front line of animal protection. Our license and tag fees pay more for animal protection programs than any other funding source. Without legal hunting, many species will overpopulate causing the endangering of other species which compete for food and habitat. We keep herds strong and manage their populations.

In the U.S. constitution we were given the right to bear arms. But in order to get a gun, you had to be a licensed registered owner. The gun itself is just a tool of weaponry, just as a knife is to a Butcher, scissors to a Tailor or Hairstylist, and swords for a Fencer, and so on.

The people who buy these guns for the pleasure of doing harm on other people on purpose is stupid people. They have nothing better to do than to create misery for everybody else other than themselves. Guns should be registered for those with common sense and using it for hunting game only.

Though I am not one for hunting, I am just stating my point.

And Rosie O'Donnell should be embarrassed for embarrassing Tom Selleck on her show. He was a guest who was in the NRA as a hobby. Shame on her for making him a spectacle in the public eye.
