You can install other operating systems to dual-boot. For example you can have Windows XP, Windows Vista and other operating systems like Linux all on the same hard drive and boot up from them all from the same computer.
Vista takes 15 Gb of space and Linux operating system, which can be found here:
http://www.redhat.com/
http://www.novell.com/linux/
http://www.ubuntu.com/download
take a couple of gigabytes each too.
Best of all all Linux operating systems are FREE
Also you can fill up your hard drive with video or other large programs and games.
There are many great games that you can install on your computer like World of Warcraft, Age of Empires III, Half-Life 2, etc...
Some cool programs that take space are Adobe programs like Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, Encore DVD, and others!
By the way, some people are saying that having a lot of things on the hard drive will slow it down; that's not true, as long as you defragment it every two or so weeks. You can use the defragmenting tool built into Windows for this or you can use the program Diskeeper which does this a LITTLE bit better.

Why do you want to fill it up? Frankly, I'd install a few cool games... Video will fill it up, especially if you have a digital video camera and do some editing/dvd authoring....

Install Kubuntu Linux on it, in addition to Windows.
Create a 3rd partition and back up (ghost) your Windows partition using DriveImageXML. Then, if Windows dies, One-Click Recovery!!!
