Differences:
Mitosis occurs in all cells except sperm and eggs (or gametes..ok and red blood cells) where meiosis takes places.
Mitosis produces 2 identical cells, meiosis produce 4 cells, that have half the number of chromosomes as the parent cell and can be genenticall different due to independent assortment and crossing over.
In meiosis there are 2 divisions to halve the chromosome number while there is only 1 cell division ion mitsosis.

Similarities:
the stages of cell division are similar eg nucleus disapears chromosomes make copies of each other, line up at centre of cell, pull apart and cell splits into 2
ummmmm what else...make more cells than you had before....... not sure what else....differences are easier!!

Mitiosis is the divison and reproduction of regular cells in the human bady (it's also how your fingers and toes formed, at least that's what my science teacher told me)
While Mieosis is the divison and reproduction of sex cells (sperm and ova) each new cell now has 23 chromosomes instead of Mitiosis' 46 chromosomes

Mitosis and Meiosis both involve diffusion across a cell wall. Meiosis is generally considered to be a type of Mitosis. Meiosis, however, only involves water.
