In the text itself, depending on the style you are using, you can use a parenthetical citation ... (Twain 117) What that means is the book is written by Mark Twain and the citation or quote is to be found on page 117. Nothing else is required, unless you have or are using two books by Twain, then you might have to say (Twain - Sawyer 117) With Sawyer being underlined as the title of a book.

In the bibliography, use
Author's last name, first name: Book title (underlined)
Where published/when published by whom published

You could do it a few ways:

1) Put the author's name at the beginning of the sentence, use the direct quote, and put the page number at the end. Example: Wordsworth stated that Romantic poetry was marked by a "spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings" (263).

2) Put the quote in and cite it in parentheses like so: (Wordsworth 263).

3) Or you could paraphrase, using the author's name and in the sentence and then the page number in parentheses at the end. Example: Wordsworth extensively explored the role of emotion in the creative process (263).
