Man o man, I would highly recommend that if you enjoy living in America or any other place other than say communist china you stay with the wonderful OS that is XP! That windows vista is just a pain in the **** at the moment. According to experts you should wait until they "work the bugs out"..yea bugs my butt, don't get it..it's not worth it! They take away all your rights and you have to permit or deny everything you do...all the best software has compatibility issues with vista...I tried fixing some programs for my step son who just bought an e machine with vista and omg! I gave up! He had to turn his machine back to where he bought it and he's looking for one with windows xp on it. I LOVE XP! Windows ME bit, Windows Vista Bites harder, Xp is the only stable OS out there besides 98....stick to it....you'll thank me later! Mzz

If you upgarde your files will be transfered into vista. Before you decide to upgrade use the Vista upgrade advisor to see if your PC and Software is compatible for Vista, alot of PC's and Software will not work with Vista and if you don't have a high end video card 512mb and 2gb of ram or more i would not consider it.Then i wish you good luck i'm very experienced with computers and software and vista gave me a run for my money but after i figured it all out i love it, just remember to shut off the user controls in vista or you will get an annoying pop up asking you to allow verything you do or try to run.
