It may sound cliche, but I swear by the Dansko Professional Clog. The list of features on this shoe reads like a how-to manual on foot care. And the sole is designed so that you almost *can't* slip on even the slickest floors. I even wore these during an ice storm a few years back and I was the only one able to walk outside on the icy sidewalks without fear. :)
The shoe allows for the natural swelling in the feet that takes place over a long day, and the structure lends itself to not only foot comfort, but back comfort as well. It makes sense if you think that how you stand can impact how your whole body works.
They may not be the most attractive shoe out there, but they sure keep this chef's feet happy.

I don't wear shoes indoors so I have to admit to you that I am usually barefooted or wearing a pair of socks in the kitchen. If I am going to be on my feet cooking for a long period of time, I get out a cushioned runner to stand on.

I have a pair of slipper socks that I sometimes wear in the kitchen when the floor is cold.

My house sneakers. I do so much around the house and I like wearing shoes to protect my toes from being hurt, as I am very clumsy. I have a pair of sneakers I wear just for in the house.
