Imagine delivering a child 30% of the way and then sucking their brains out... How barbaric can "civilized" people be?

Maybe bigjim74 can tell us...exactly...what medical condition of the mother must force a physician to suck the brains out of the baby's skull, instead of simply bringing it out of the birth canal?

Yes--I hadn't heard that, but if it's true it's good news. Anyone who knows what that partial birth abortion is knows it's wrong, even people who use abortions instead of condoms and think it's OK. I can't believe a doctor would even try that, unless he didn't see any other way.

I support a woman's right to choose (guess I won't get best answer now--I think life begins when cells begin differentiating), but if partial birth abortions are allowed, we have to quit prosecuting mothers who throw their newborns in dumpsters--it's the exact same thing (or maybe the dumpster is a step kinder than PB--there's always a chance the baby will cry and someone will find it).

Wow, guess I was wrong. Some people just don't know or don't think--but there seem to be a lot of people upset by this news. Do they think we should go the Cartman's mom route--and abort our six year olds because we aren't ready to care for a child?

For all my whining about the stupid conservatives on this site, I'm really disapointed at some of the liberals who posted here. Get off the party line and get a mind of your own.

Chi--you've proved to me once not all libs are totally insane. It's a great day for viable CHILDREN! Although I am anti-abortion, I can 'see' some people's argument that a blastocyst is not a baby (although I don't agree--I understand why they say it) but when you've seen a 23 week old premie (fully formed baby) grow into a remarkable young man (like my nephew 1# 4 oz at birth--15 years ago!)--late term abortions can't be considered anything else but genocide!

Let me think about this one for a good LONG second:

My unborn child develops a life-threatening congenial birth defect in the second or third trimester, and doctors tell me that there is no hope for the child.

He'll DIE before he reaches full term.

My wife and I decide that a partial birth abortion is the only way to end his suffering.

But no...!

Federal law says that we can't HAVE that! We can't abort our own kid because some religious nuts think that fetuses feel PAIN in the womb.

So instead, my wife and I have to agonize every day, for every month--waiting for this child of ours to be stillborn--because of a STUPID federal law which says that we can't deal with this tragedy on a personal and PRIVATE level.

What makes you think that the federal government has every right to interfere in the lives of couples and their unborn kids--just because of some throwback law which gives women the RIGHT to have an abortion?

my belief is if theres neurological activity its a life. Once your brain dies thats it so it swings both ways on the lifeline. So I have to agree that a PB ab. is a bad idea.

no it is not, because sometimes the procedure is needed to save the mother's life. Why do we have to get into everyones buisness. If a woman has an abortion that is her buisness, not mine, she's the one that has to live with this decision, not the people who think it's wrong.

Just wait for all the ghastly stuff that will start up again if more forms of abortions are made illegal. You won't listen to those of us who remember what goes on with poor women dying and well connected women getting abortions by some other name in nice clean pricey clinics...you probably don't believe it. Good luck I hope nothing bad happens to any of the women in your family, the ones that get pregnant because we made it illegal to teach birth control in school and then we made it illegal to get a safe abortion.

I'm a liberal and I think it's the right thing to do... To me it's just common sense... Too bad the cons can't use any on other matters at hand...

Cause it really matters. Women can still get abortions whenever they wan't. You've only made them slightly more dangerous (for the woman) in selected instances. Congratulations. You must be so proud...

I don't feel I have the right to interfere with the doctor patient decision making process - so the answer is no.
