Is Kara Yorio the worst sports writer ever?

Kara Yorio says the stupidest things that I have ever read about hockey. "There should only be 2 overtimes in the playoffs..." someone needs to fire her, that has to be the most ignorant rant I have ever read. Any real hockey fan knows that shoot outs aren't hockey.

I have to admit that I am beginning to think you are right. I used to like her, but she has really turned into an amateur. Even if you didn't disagree with her views on the sport you'd have to agree that her articles are really lacking in depth or insight. You may be overreacting to her view on the overtimes, but the fact is that she has not written much that anyone agrees with almost all year.

I subscribed to the Sporting News about 8-10 yrs ago and even back then, I wondered how she kept her job. She re-hashes issues everyone's already discussed and comes up with some wacky ideas, like the 2 overtime thing, which every hockey purist knows is dumb. Just plain dumb. SN would be much better off replacing her. I'm in the NY-NJ area and we have a woman sportswriter who's covered hockey before and she's great. Bridget Wentworth. If you're reading this SN, fire Kara and hire Bridget. No one will ever accuse you of gender bias.

If you're just talking about hockey writers, the worst one I've ever read is Stan Fischler. He's written over 60 books on hockey, mainly for people who are new to the sport in the US, and some of them are simply awful. He's one of those people who likes to state his opinions simply to get other people riled up and mad at him and he's made a career out of it. I can't stand him at all!

I haven't read many of her posts to be honest, however last year I remember her predicting that Carolina would win the Stanley Cup before the beginning of the playoffs. I don't, however, agree with limiting playoffs to 2 overtimes.

I have to agree with you, she is. I have read some of her 'ramblings' the last few months and am trying to figure out how in the heck she got hired by the Sporting News.

Just a dumb skirt, who took this job, so she could get in the locker rooms. It is about the only way she is going to get near a guys tool, so thats why she does it. She knows nothing about the game, or how its played. Most people, know nothing about the history of the game. She should write for the food channel, or WE, that way, the dyke crowd, could adopt her, as a champion, for their cause.
