Although in legends it's a lot easier to find sirens, which were winged women who would sit by the sea and lure sailors to their deaths, or just plain ol' mermaids, there IS a woman European folklore called the melusine.

Usually melusines are just like mermaids (maybe with two tails) but in some stories have been referred to as having wings.

What would a mermaid need feathered wings for? They'd get all wet and icky in the water and not work properly.

I would say sirens (greek mythology), since there are pictures maid of them where they have wings and are around a ship. Oddyseus his ship if I'm not mistaking.
