Their 'real' name is not Saxe-Coburg. The name was changed in 1917 and nobody whose name was Saxe-Coburg is still alive.
Only half of the Queen's ancestry is royal - the other half is her mother's, who was completely Scottish. Prince Philip was born in Greece but his ancestors were Danish. The monarchs of Britain have been born here for over 200 years - a longer period of time than some of the xenophobes on this page can probably trace their ancestry.
So please come up with something more original than 'they look like horses' or 'they're all German'. It's gotten really boring.

Thats mean
OK both the Queen and Prince Philip are distant cousins through Queen Victoria who was married to her German cousin Albert
Philip was from the Greek royal family
I think the third generation being products of English stock is mostly English now

it incredibly is an idiotic question. they did no longer "enable" it. they're ecu so its no longer a great deal. contributors of royal households intermarry for all time. Ethnically The British Royal kin is generally German, English and Danish. yet they're English by way of fact they have been born in England.

They are more "German" than "British" in blood. Elizabeth and Phillip can trace their ancestry back to the Conquerer, but the German principalities supplied many, many brides to foreign monarchies since the 17th century. The Romanovs too were more Germany than Russian.

Firstewall, your expression of horses seems to be very defermative. I do not like that expression. Neither would you if they would tell you look like a stud or? Woul you?
As I understand it, Prince Phillip is from German background but aristrocratic. Here is a website about the information.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_Philip,_Duke_of_Edinburgh
Most of the European Aristrocratic people are some how related to each other.

The queen can trace her ancestry back to William the Conqueror going through most to the Countries of Europe, however, she, her parents (Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother and King George VI), her grandfather (George V), her great-grandfather (Edward VII) and great-great grandmother (Queen Victoria) were all born in Britain.
That's more than a lot of people who consider themselves British nowadays (I include myself amonf them, none of my great-grandparents were born in this country - the UK, all my grandparents were)

haha, great question! they actually ARE german. the british royal families real last name is Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, but was changed during WWII because of the fear of a german linkage between germany and the u.k.
they changed their last name to windsor because it is the name of one of their lavish castles... anyways
yes they are GERMAN! Queen victoria, whom the current family descends, was the daughter of a german princess and her husband Prince albert was full german....
kind of ironic that the english royal family is actually more German than english isn't it.... considering their the figure head of the nation. :-p
