I have a 1990 Sable that the air bag light just started flashing yesterday. It flashes 9 times then pauses and flashes again. I did disconnect the battery for a couple hours and that did not fix it. does any one know why it would do that and how I could fix it?
thanks for your time

like fordman said get it fixed asap as the sensor has gone bad, there was a guy i knew who had a 1994 crownvic who ignored his flashing airbag light for about 3 months and while driving to the gas station to get smokes, for no reason the bag deployed in his face and he went into a 6foot deep ditch cause he lost control, now i know it's a different car but it is a ford and chances are they probably share some tech.when it comes to that type of thing, good luck.

Take it to a Ford dealer. A sensor has went bad and it may have deactivated the air bag system. Get it fixed. Your life may depend on it. good luck

It can be taken to a shop for them to check for codes. All it means is that your air bag will not function properly until it is fixed. a diagnostic should not mbe more than $80 (at least here in CA).
