because of the tragedy in virigina tech, people are starting to be racist against koreans. i know this is happening because it already started. the spitting on koreans, giving them dirty looks, and not going where they are..
its not paranoia, its true. because this has happened to one of my best friends. being part korean myself, this should stop before going any further. its like a deja vu of 9/11.
help stop this mess, and feelings are appreciated. whether appropriate or not:) thank you.

THANK YOU!!! You have no idea how many Muslims and Arabs suffered abuse from racist fearfuls who think they can vilify all "foreigners" every time there is an incident involving them. Japanese were vilified after Pearl Harbor. Chinese were abused in Cailfornia in the Gold Rush and after. Blacks have had more than their share since the 1600's, maybe before. Mexicans and Latino/as are assumed to be one thing, or assumed to be here illegally. We all hear the stories, so why does it keep happening when the people shake their heads at it? Why do prejudiced racist bigots assume we are all in alliance with our race, our religion, to plot the end of the world, when THEY don't do it themselves?
We have a long way to go to reach racial and religious equality.

You must be very young, however as you age you will come to understand that when something like this happens, many people lash out in peculiar (and totally inappropriate) ways. Of course those who are mature and rational (in mind) will realize that this individual who perpetrated the killings was a madman, and that mental illness exists in all humanity, regardless of age, race, sex, etc. It is indeed unfortunate when people begin lashing out at another race because of an incident such as this but it's a fact of life. All you can do is to guard against doing this. You are responsible for only your own actions and examples.

I've been advised approximately 10000 instances that I'm now not a Real Christian (TM) due to the fact that my ideals do not fall in with the extremist social gathering line. I percentage a few of your perspectives. I preserve citizenship in an earthly country (the United States). There are many paths to God. I take facet in each Christian and non-Christian rites. I am now not petrified of non-Christian affects. I refuse to make use of my faith as an excuse for bigotry and hatred. Anyway, congratulations for now not looking to shove the Divine right into a one-measurement-suits-all field.

The same thing happened with Arabs in this country after Osama bin Laden and the war started. I have absolutely no prejudice at all for Koreans, and I feel only pity for people who do, because they judge a person just because of their race. I'll pass what you ask along to my friends, though. :)

We can not continue to turn against one race or another just because ONE of their ilk does something wrong. We have got to start seeing people as individuals. It was not All South Koreans that committed this terrible deed, the same as it is not All Whites, Blacks, etc. that do stupid or terrible things.

racism is wrong no matter who the people are. it's a damn shame that some are feeling as though the whole korean people did this terrible thing when it was one very sick individual who happened to be korean. all i can tell you is that i do not bash any people and i teach my children the same. rest assured, you won't see that behavior here.

people should not do that. each person is the same but different. it doesnt matter what race we are... its just a person who did the bad thing and it could be an american, it could be someone else of a different race. the people who are racist like that are just plain ridiculous. its because they dont seem to want to take just any time to spend with someone a different race and see that they are just like a regular person.

I've heard numerous stories already about hateful acts towards Asians in general in relation to what happened... People and their hatred really know no bounds.

I feel sorry for your friend. People can be so cruel.
Luckily, I feel those people are a small group.
I, for one do not feel koreans are responsible for this man's actions---just ignore them if you can.
