All it takes is one crazy, sick, twisted personality to inflict the damage. The term "bad apple" is a true and sad fact. They always say about the perpetrators, "all the signs were there" but for some reason it always happen after the fact. What good is going to do if it already happened? In the case of this Killer I heard that one of the teachers was saying, "this student had a mean streak", his roommates describe this killer, "as very weird, friendless, bizarre behavior patterns..", and in the end the tragedy took place.
My constructive opinion would be that when a person is not acting in a rational way and is surrounded by other people, those that detect unusual tendencies should immediately have a place to report this kind of situation. Now more than ever and as much as it limits one person's ability to remain private what matters the most is the welfare of the group. Of course, no one imagined this crazy killer would hurt so many people but what I can not understand is why so much time went by from the first two killings to the ones that follow after without a mayor mobilization of resources in the campus. It almost felt like this sick person went back and was able to regroup without absolutely no one aware of his sinister intentions. Campus police should have went into full alert if only to discourage this individual from further evil. All it takes is one, two or more twisted and hateful actions like this one to demoralize and destroy the good that exist in our higher learning centers. When people are determined to do harm to other people for no other reason than their passionate unchecked desire to cause harm, there is very little anyone can do. Specially in this great country where individuals are allowed just about anything they want. There are too many good things in America and all it takes is a moment such as this to wonder if personal liberties override everyone else's. I am sure the family of the killer where more than aware that he was not your normal average american kid. I can almost assure you he was as mean before he joined as a student. No one has a crystal ball but common sense and a discerning eye sometimes detect all that is needed to warn proper authorities. Live and let live is no longer a very safe option. One must keep eyes and ears open to make sure they are among civilized, caring people such as themselves. What a tragedy and believe me when I say that is not only in the schools but it is in this setting that they become the most shocking to parents, friends and students in general. Do not take actions of some for granted. If they do not act and behave like normal people they should be cause for alarm. This is a beatiful country and if it wasn't for these unfortunate moments everyone could be free and willing to pursue goals and careers. A total sad and shocking event that has shaken everyone. No one can account for acts such as this, can not be explained with a rational mind.

There really are only a few violent schools but they are the only ones that keep coming up in the news because they are the ones getting attention. Kids that need attention or a rep are violent in schools. It's stupid. A lot of schools are getting renovated with new programs though, so violence is way winding down. Like in my school it used to be a big school with lots of violence, but now there are about 5 little schools within a big school, and the personal feel makes it a lot less violent and people are doing a lot better. Also it's only a tiny amount of people, who are in gangs or are crazy, who bring guns to school, and they never shoot in school. It's just that it gets publicized cuz it's so weird.

i believe its going on cause parents now a days dont think respect is a big thing anymore and the kids that do this are picked on and bullied by kids who are rich and dont have problems and all that stuff. I believe if people would start being nice to each other and treating people with respect i think school shootings would go down and things in schools would be alright. I mean i got picked on in school and it hurt but it didnt get to the point where i wanted to take my life or kill someone. I think kids should be taught that they should respect each other and give people chances and help someone out if their having problems instead making fun of them and calling them names. But i mean nothing has changed and its sad to know nothing is going to change because of rude people.

Well that is also my observation, maybe issuance of guns should be screened strictly. And how about a gadget that could detect guns upon entry of the person to whatever establishment or most especially schools?

Hi,

It's happening because there is a 'terrible lack of love' in the world. Believe me Jesus is still trying to teach us this. Check the Bible, it's true the facts speak for themselves.

School shootings are rare. Not rare enough, but it's not like they happen all the time.

One reason why schools make such great targets is that they're typically "Gun Free Zones", where victims are practically guaranteed to be defenseless.

one of the reasons is the lack respect for others and of one's self. people are different in many ways, no one is any better or worse then anyone else. your parents try to teach us how to relate to others. sometimes we just don't listen to them. schools are a place of learning how to function in today's world. no one knows all the answers but one can learn how to find them by learning how to think. the only true answer is in you and how you feel and how you handle those feelings. i hope this helps you. when reading history or anything, read not only the words but try to read beyond them. life is not easy but can be interesting if you try.

It basically comes down to the Blacks. But were in luck because most of it is black on black violence. when the blacks learn to join polite society then we could embrace them untill then we have to keep wasting our tax dollars to build prisons to house them

bullies and narrow minding people.
children, young adults and adults all need a positive support team, meaning friends. "caring" about how someone is doing and asking "how are you?" is a positive step in the right direction.
