I just upgraded my pc to vista a few days ago. For sum reason, everytime that i check my computers memory, its keeps on changing from 162GB, to 131, 142 ,154, etc. I want it to stop doing that and stay on 162GB. Please tell me what I should do!

Thats the new System Restore its called Shadow Copy. It save a new copy of everthing on your computer instead of just settings. You can disable system restore and it will stop but then you dont have anything to fall back on. It saves it up to 15% then starts overwriting. So, 162GB hard drive , it will use up to 24 gigs for shadow copy.

merely insert the old tense stress into the Vista computing gadget. Set the pins on the back as slave and connect the IDE cable. memory (RAM) enjoying cards might desire to be an identical to slot the recent computing gadget's motherboard. DDR RAM won't fit a motherboard thats makes use of DDR2. Older XP desktops even used SDR Ram, in comparison to minded. as properly all that VISTA sucks, use the old HDD because of the fact the boot disk so so which you are able to use XP. merely exchange the pins to grasp and set the Vista HHD to Slave. exchange the boot order in BIOS. (F1 on startup)

Actually the reason why your hard drive capacity is changing, is bcause of the "system restore made by windows". I had the same problem.. I have 120GB and begun to go down at 80.. I thought there's something wrong, until i found out that system restore is using my hard drive..

If you want, you can check how many GB is used by the system restore.. If you're really annoyed by it, you can REDUCE the disk space used by system restore.. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND TURNING OFF SYSTEM RESTORE because it protects your computer is something bad happens..

Visit this link to know how to check the disk space used by system restore and how to reduce the space it used.
