"The value of these modern coins is tied directly to the price of silver. At $4 per ounce, 90% silver are worth about three times their face value. A dime would be worth about 30c, a quarter about 75c, and a half dollar, about $1.50. At the same silver price of $4, 40% silver half dollars are worth approximately 1.3 times their face value or 65c each."

Hope that helps!

It is a common date. In low grades it is worth 7 to 8 times face value for it's silver. There is no dealer bid or ask for this date, so only if it is in a very high mint state grade would it be worth more than face. In mint state 64 it books for $16, that is a retail and dealers pay 40 to 50 percent less. Sorry it is not a rare coin.
