I'm 34 weeks pregnant, and I'm miserable. I plan on doing every home remidy I know of in two weeks to help me go into labor. My mom had all her babies between 36-38 weeks, so it's in my family to have an early labor. Would it be bad for me to try to go into labor early? I'm waiting untill I'm full-term to do it... but I just want some opinions.

The main point of my question, by the way, was the fact that once I hit 36 weeks I want to start trying to go into labor. I figure starting a week before I hit full-term is probably the best time to do it, considering that after 36 weeks the doctors in L&D don't try and stop you from delivering. I wasn't saying that I want to start NOW, so I think alot of you misread what I was trying to say.

I don't blame you at all for trying to make yourself go into labor once you're full term. HOWEVER, you definitely want to make sure you wait until you're full term. The reason for that is it takes until then for your babies lungs to be fully developed. I know you are miserable, and you would like for this to be over now, but if you will wait until you are full term, you baby will have a good chance of not having any problems. The lungs are the last thing to finish development, so that's why premature babies have so many problems.

Many of those home remedies only work if you are ready to deliver anyway. I hate to tell you that, but in five pregnancies, with four overdue, I've tried pretty much all of them, and suffered through a lot of them. They only worked when they did because my body was ready anyway. Take castor oil for example. If you take it at 36 weeks and your body isn't ready, all you will do is have bad diarrhea and possibly vomiting, but no baby. You could even cause the baby to have a bowl movement in the womb. It's really not worth it if it doesn't work, right? Just relax and let it happen. I understand being miserable, again 4 overdue babies (41 weeks), but you won't be pregnant forever.

I would say yes it would be bad, because the lungs are the last thing to develope, and the baby puts on more weight in the last few weeks. I know it is miserable, but hang in there. Not just saying that, I have two kids. Just try to rest, or do less at one time. I would have to go to Wal-Mart and then come home and rest before I could go to the grocery store (before super wal-marts) and just let some of the house work go and relax.

Tell me about it!! I know just how you feel. I'm 33 weeks and I already want to have my son. I won't try anything yet but I want to sooooo bad. Anyway, I think that once you're full term go ahead and do what you can to have your baby. I had my labor induced with my daughter by having sex and had my baby soon after. It really worked.

Yes, it is bad. Home remedies can be dangerous. It would be okay if you went into labor early on your own, but it would be risky to try to force an early labor. Your baby and your body will know the right time to go into labor.

Your mother's labor has nothing to do with what your labor will be like. I often got so tired of being pregnant, that I started the home remedy stuff for labor, but nothing worked for me, I realized when its time, its time. Best of Luck

Don't even think about it!
Babies come along when they are good and ready, and you really shouldn't be hurrying things along. How would you feel if your baby had something wrong with it because you tried to hurry things along. If you are not 100% sure of your dates you could risk trying to bring it on much to early.
Enjoy your time being pregnant, it is the most special time of your life, when you are the centre of attention, once the baby comes, then they are the star.
Good luck anyway, I wish you and your baby well.

Any home remedies are only going to work if your body is ready to have your baby. Don't do anything that is dangerous. I hear that having sex is the best way to induce labor at home. Good luck.

yea seriously don't try any home remedies to get that baby out, they come in their own time! Even if your a day or two late, the liver may just need a lil more time to develop, or something like that.
If your Dr deems it necessary for the baby to be delivered they will professionally induce you.
