Where can I view more recent satellite images than what is available on Google earth?

For weather and environmental satellite data, try http://earth.jsc.nasa.gov/sseop/efs/. There is a lot of stuff there, include much beautiful imagery. It is updated pretty much every day.

None of it, however, is the real high-resolution stuff like you see on Google Earth. There is no free way to get current hi-res imagery of that sort: you have to buy it.

You probably need to pay money to do that. The free images are whatever is in the archives.
