My prossessor speed is 566 MHz
My Multiplyer is 8.5
My computer does nopt have a cover so cooling is not a problem.

I prefer doing this for free.

If your PC uses a proprietary motherboard, it would hardly have any overclocking/tweaking options. Many retail boards have better tweaking options and enthusiast boards practically have the FULL range, sometimes even having a CMOS clear switch instead of the usual jumper.

BTW, only the old processors have unlocked multipliers or could easily be unlocked. Nowadays, most are locked except mobile and high end gaming processors. Others have unlocked lower multipliers for downclocking at idle or low load to save energy as well as to cool the processor.

CPUFSB can do that...That's how I overclock my "Locked" bios on my mobo...(For use with Gateway, eMachines, Dell, etc)
http://www.cpufsb.de/index.html
Over Clocking your CPU by increasing the Frontside Bus frequency....you'll have to look up the PLL make and model numbers to get the right settings
( http://www.cpufsb.de/index.html )...I'm using it as we speak...my (Gateway 500X) 2.4GHz Pentium is running at 2.67GHz.
One thing to keep in mind. If it hangs (Freezes) on a frequency you choose, you'll have to unplug (or in my case, powerstrip) your computer power, then start again...
Warning!!! (Learned this the hard way) If you have CPUFSB set to startup with boot, and your computer doesn't like the frequency you last set it at, it won't boot!!!! It will hang again when the program starts up again...so it's best to not use that option until you have done a lot of testing to make sure your computer isn't going to freeze on whatever frequency you set it at!
Do some research as to what your CPU can overclock to, to give you and idea of where to start...
For example: My P4 (Northwood) 2.4 can be overclocked to 3.0GHz...
I've been using this now for 5 years with stock cooling and stock voltages with no problems at all...This gives me a 16% improvement over stock clock speeds...so yes it's noticeable...

Unfortunately, the Emachines BIOS is what is preventing you from overclocking that processor.

Most likely it has all clock speed options, even the FSB speed, disabled in the bios and there is no way to change that.

You would have to buy a different motherboard and even then it is not worth it.
