I feel that this summer could be make or break time for Tottenham. They aren't too far off Liverpool or Arsenal at the moment (at least on paper), but to truly challenge the monopoly of the top 4, a couple of real top class signings will be required... there is certainly the money to do so, perhaps it comes down to how much ambition the board has
As for this season, the long-term absence of Ledley King as well as an off-form Paul Robinson for parts of the season has contributed to the very shaky defensive record, and the lack of any true left-sided player has done a lot to hold the team back. Plus it has to be remembered that this season has seen the team play far more games than the last, which pretty much accounts for their poorer league standing

Descent is not enough in the EPL....
The richer clubs will always have the advantage because they are able to buy out the best players ...
(Top 4 teams right now are the richest clubs in the EPL)
Look at this Stat:
Chelsea has spent more on their current squad than Everton has spent in the entire existence of the Club.
EPL should consider looking into a Salary Cap.

Tottenham is a very good team but lack the nerves and believes like the top 4 teams. They also need more world class international players, and to attract them, they must first qualify in the CL or at least win the EUFA cup.

They have great attacking talent and they are strong offensively, but they are very weak defensively...they struggle to keep clean sheets. I think they have missed Ledley King through injury and Michael Carrick as he was sold to Man Utd. Also, they did not buy a good replacement for Carrick either. Robinson hasn't done well this season but I think it's down the defence as well.
I think if they get a solid defence, they will become a more potent threat.

Being an Arsenal fan I will let you in on a secret. The English league is as corrupt as the Italian but it is not paying off refs that they do. It is getting all the star players. You do not need a good team to become a top team, you need an excellent team. It is a corrupt old boys club. You need to be in the champion's league to attract top players and to be able to afford top players. So until you enter the champion's you cannot attract the top players or be a top team.
It is one giant cycle. You need to be in the champion's league to attract the top players but you are not in the champion's league so you cannot get top players to get into the champion's league.

That's a very good question. If you have a glance at their squad, it's strong in all departments. However, I do believe that, tactically, the correct strategy has not yet been unearthed, paired with their inability to keep hold of their stars, i.e. Michael Carrick.
It wouldn't surprise me to see Lennon move on within the next couple of years if he continues to develop.

Tactically, they're not strong. Plus they're up against Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelski, and United year after year.
