.my niece was born at 36 weeks and they recommend a month before taking her out. It takes time for their immune system to get up to speed. Taking her out too early could put her at risk to get sick from germy people.

Although I delivered my baby at full term, he spent 30 days in the NICU due to Meconium Aspiration Syndrome. He was/is susceptible to infections (RSV/FLU, etc...) and therefore, we did not take him into public. We had visitors come to our house and we MADE them sanitize before touching him. We also requested that ALL visitors be healthy. All of our friends and family were/are very understanding and respectful of our son's situation. We knew it was not forever and it was for the safety of our baby. (Yes, I do feel somewhat like a prisoner in my own house!)
There are so many germs out there and if I can keep my son from getting a sickness until his immunities are stronger, then that's what I need to do.
FLU and RSV season will be over at the end of April. That is when we plan to make our debuts. If you can wait just two more weeks, then it may be the safest time to introduce your baby to the world.

I gave birth to my daughter at 36 weeks and she was also 5 pounds. She was in the special care nursury for close to a week because she wasn't keeping much food in. After getting her home we took her out about a week or so later because she had to have check ups etc. She was fine really but mind you it was summer. Just as long as they're wrapped up and protected from the harsh environment and sick people she should be ok.

I gave birth to a 5 lb baby at 35 weeks, and she was in the hospital for a week because she had trouble gaining weight. But, other than that she was fine. I think I waited a month, just to be safe. We had family come to visit us at home, and in the hospital.
She did get sick A LOT though, her whole first year. She had pneumonia twice, and lots of colds, and RSV twice. Poor little girl. So, just remember, preemies tend to get sick more and suffer more when they are sick.

I had my son at 36 weeks, he was 5 lbs when we braught him home. I didn;t take him out of the house for 3 weeks. Then just to his grandparents house. I didn't take him to any public place until he was 6 weeks, and not around too many people until he had his 2 month vaccines.

Being flu season is over now it will probably be okay to go in public. But remember to keep the baby covered. And don't let everyone hold the baby. Also don't let people get up in her face. I know you sometimes feel mean telling people they can't hold her but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I had a baby that was 2lbs 14oz my rule of thumb was take her around people but if they want to hold her make them was their hands first. I did not let small kids around her for 6 weeks because they spread more germs.
