I frankly don't know why they hired him in the first place. Like all Philadelphia teams, they go the cheapest route and that includes managers. They probably got him for a song. Now, for the first time in years the Phillies actually have a really good team but have no one to guide them. I feel really bad for Phillies fans. They deserve much more. The new ball park is beautiful. All they need is a decent manager to get them back on track. Manuel must go if this teams wants to make the playoffs. Gods know they're good enough.

Charlie Manuel proved to be a completely ineffective and clutz of a manager in Cleveland. Terrible decisions-especially when it came to pitching (which he knows zero about--they guy was a hitting instructor for years). Philly really scraped the bottom of the barrell for him. After disastorous moves and blunders he made in Cleveland-it's a enormous shock to think that any GM would have been stupid enought to hire him. He is an excellent hitting coach though---to his only credit.

In view of the conversation he had with that reporter and the awful state of Phillies baseball - I think that the firing of Manuel is now inevitable

i do not imagine he receives fired if for no different reason than that's rude to fireside a senior citizen, fairly even as the grumpy previous guy led you to a international sequence in basic terms 2 years in the past. The Phillies will win the dep. with there eyes closed besides, yet no matter if or not they DO omit the playoffs, Charlie Manuel isn't getting fired.

All I know is they better start doing something right! I've been a Phillies fan forever, and always will be, but......It's a wonder I don't develop a substance abuse problem! My wish: Pete Rose gets reinstated and becomes the next Phillies manager. If it wasn't for Pete we wouldn't have the Championship that we do. He brought that TEAM together and LEAD them to the title! GO PHILS!!!

i think he should be fired, his teams have the third-worst record in april since 2005(manuel's first year), so effectively they put themselves in such a big hole in april that they can't make the playoffs...and the silly fight with howard eskin would push me over the edge if i were pat bolen

however, in 30 years as gm bolen has fired exactly one manager mid-season, so this is not likely to actually happen soon

As the Phillies begin their 33rd 3 year rebuilding plan, they gotta do something. But who is available????????

Dallas Green is still with the Phillies, but he's 74. i don't know ifhe'd want the job.

yes. he has gotten the team into a bad start and has been making horrible decisions. Myers in the pen?lieber starting? thats just crazy. Myers is a much better pitcher than Liber. he clearly doesnt know what hes doing.

I can only assume he wants to bring Myers out in long relief situations when one of his pitchers gets in trouble early on.

But if he's going to do that then he should have just left him in the rotation. It doesn't make a lot of sense.

No.Its not his fault that the team cant play like a team.A coach can only do so much for his team he doesnt play out in the field or bat
