he seems pretty innocent. he was only trying to help out. If the families or the prince knew they might have punished him in that time.

Friar Lawrence was a victim of his own good intentions. Like many of us when we set out to do a "good deed"- he thought he was doing the "right thing" by the two kids he cared about. Unfortunately- the Law of "Unintended Consequences" kicked in- & his whole "plan" went terribly wrong. It happens. So- NO, I don't believe the good Friar should be punished. What happend to Romeo & Juliet was "punishment" enough.

No. Friar Larry acted in good faith. Also, he did not cross any state lines and so there was no felony in transporting the two minors. At best you could go for some custodial interference charges and I can't see those amounting to much. I guess you could push for the narcotics he provided but the play does not mention if you needed a prescription to get them or not.

I say we let him go.
