By the time you are in your 36th week, measuring the fetal age based on size has an accuracy of +/- 3 weeks, making it very inaccurate. (http://www.obfocus.com/questions/qanda24.htm) The earlier the fetal age is checked in the pregnancy, such as a 6 weeks ultrasound, the more accurate the age. So this tells me that the initial conception dates are probably more accurate. Pregnancy is considered full term after 36 weeks. Sorry if that is not what you want to hear.

I got a 2006/2007 calendar and counted back and came up with Aug. 18. Wouldn't it be romantic if you did conceive on Aug. 4? Chances are you didn't though, unfortunately. Your due date doesn't change. Your due date is still May 11, but your body and your baby are probably ready to come out a little sooner. The baby may just be big enough and developed/mature enough, or maybe your body has had enough and is ready not to be pregnant anymore. Just because he's early doesn't mean the due date or conception date has changed. Hey, at least the baby might be born early. I know near the end I was ready to have the baby. I was huge and tired and sick of being pregnant.

They wont his change his due date because the best time to measure a baby for gestational age is earlier in pregnancy. The further along you get the less acurate it gets. I'd go with the doctor on this one and chances are he wasnt conceived on the 4th of August. Either way, he was conceived out of love and thats all that matters. Congrats!

The best way to find your due date is by the last menstrual period-add seven days and count back three months. Did you have a period after he proposed? If not, you probably conceived before your 'estimated' conception date.
The medical community doesn't tell you that their estimate could be off by plus or minus two weeks-so could their measurements of size.Women are frequently dilated 1 or 2 or even 3 centimeters before their due date.
The baby won't care when it was conceived!

It's always possible, but does it really matter? You're going to have a baby either way, right? Even if it was conceived on the 18th it could still be early. If it makes your husband feel good to know that it was on the 4th, what's wrong with that?

Due dates are just educated guesses. They are based on the development and size of the baby.Your baby may just be a big baby and that is why your measuring further along.Your due date might not change, because it is based on the size of your baby. But it IS extremely likely that you conceived your baby Sept 4.
