Do you think the government should be able to outlaw certain procedures that the doctor would do to protect you life? If the procedure is for the benefit of your health or your life, and the doctor tells you all the information as to the pros and cons of the procedure, do you think the government should be able to make that procedure illegal?

Secondary question, do you think the Partial Birth Abortion Ban was good or bad?

Hell no! This was a purely political decision to throw a bone to the drooling fundamentalist faction. After all, they were the ones stupid enough to vote for Bush twice.

Politicians are not doctors, and we've already seen the results when they pretend to be. How do you think our politicians would react if doctors tried to tell them what they could do?

This country has gotten so partisan in the last several years that I'm surprised we haven't had a second civil war of our own yet. I could almost look forward to it if it gave me the chance to take out some of these disgusting right-wing mouthpieces that get paid to *lie* every day of the week on what they have the nerve to call our "liberal" media!

This ban was an irresponsibly bad idea which is guaranteed to directly lead to several deathsof pregnant women who could otherwise be saved. "Compassionate Conservatism" MY A**!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's not so much the government, as it is the Insurance companies that push for certain things that are more to their Benefit! You can counter it by getting a notarized Living Will and give a copy to your physician.

To answer you last question: Partial birth is exactly that. The fully mature baby's brain is sucked right out with no anesthesia. The ban in my mind is good.

Goverment does regulate the procedures a Doctor can preform and the doctor themselves have what is called scope of practice and standard of care. And yes it should be regulated and supervised. As far as the recent court uphold I do think that is good thing.

Most states do regulate a lot of the procedures a doctor can do. Just look up the web site for your state health regulatory agency. In South Carolina it is http://www.scdhec.net and includes health and enviromental things. To me, abortion is murder unless their is something seriously dangerously wrong with child and/or mother or in cases of rape and/or incest.
