I have been there and I thought I can make friends that would respect me. I was not born with silver spoon in the mouth not even the privelege of a son who have studied in an exclusive school or a nice house with all the amenities available at the flick of a finger.
I grew up doing that; pretending always to be a part of what's new, what's good and what's in trend. I have joined every activities I could think of that will help me soar among the best. And that's what I said to people who does not know me enough. It made me reach a point where I was at the top of my career handling the privelege of a professional that I never was. I made a name in my own country and in Saudi Arabia as one of the top notch Architects.
Reality came when I step here in USA with all the relatives who really knew me from head to toe and I just cannot lie anymore. It came as a culture shock to me but a lesson learned that everything that is based on lie will not really last.
I cannot brag any longer because it no longer will cover my pride and insecurities. Tell your friend that you can still be his friend and he does not have to hide his true nature. This time I am more at peace with myself because I am accepted for what I truly am.

You know what? People brag because they're proud of their accomplishments. Or they have nothing better to do. That person probably isn't even aware he/she brags. Don't do anything about it. It would crush their soul if you asked them why the heck they bragged so much. Good luck, just live with it. Your not dead yet, so don't complain!

I have a brother that does this. It's annoying, isn't it?
I think that people who do this don't feel secure with themselves and feel the need to brag about themselves so that they can convince those around them how wonderful they are.

Well people want other people to know things about them like say someone is going to Hawaii in the summer they would brag by saying things like oh I can`t wait to go to Hawaii,It`s gonna be so much fun, etc. People do this in front of other peoples so everyone knows one good thing about them so everyone can like them but that doesn`t always happen to make friends people would think that they`re spoiled and selfish my point is that people want to have everyone know about their trip to Hawaii

Bragging, egotistical people are often the most insecure.
They are looking to draw attention to themselves and earn praise, compliments, and envy from other people they often feel are less priviledged.
The reality is they often end up looking studid, and pushing people away from them due to their constant arrogance.
A smart, educated, mature and sensible person is often the most popular in the end due to their pride, and just simply by keeping their big mouth shut!

They want to impress you, make you look bad, or sad, they want you to like them and/or you to feel insecure. I brag, but It's because I'm proud, and I always show off my accomplishments as others do to me. But I don't do it to show off, I do it because others have always refered to me as the black sheep of the family. But I don't constantly brag. Sometimes those who brag doen't really have anything to brag about, they are lying and don't have or do those things. In my case I never lied, I always showed what I had to brag about.

They brag because they want to be better than everyone else. They just want to act like a goody goody two shoes. In the end they don't get popular at all.

so annoying, i have freinds that do this too. Like they are constantly trying to convince you they are worthy of more and more. I think the mosre someone brags, the less they feel they truely have (where it counts)

they're trying to make themselves feel better. people who brag think that if they show everyone how cool, rich, popular, etc. they are, then they will feel really good about themselves, when in reality, they're probably trying to hide an insecurity.

Themselves....why would you brag if you were satisfied with what you have?! Just trying to make everyone think they are better...when in all honesty...they aren't!
