I went to donate plasma on Monday and I couldn't because my iron level was too low.

My pulse was also high. I've been getting very dizzy lately, my lower abdomen has been cramping (like my period is gonna start, but I'm on birth controll and I have over a week until my next period), and I've been feeling a little nauseated (and yet I've been hungry).

One other thing to add. Last week I ended up taking my birth control pills at different times every day because of schedule changes and a sleep over with my friends made me sleep in one day. Usually I take it every morning at 8. A couple days I took it at 7ish and on Sunday I took it around 9:30. Could that have something to do with the cramping?

I also think I'm malnurished because I haven't been eating right.

There's also the fact that I'm stressed over school because we're entering the final weeks and I'm behind in one or two classes.

It's very unlikely that I'm pregnant. Along with the birth control pill, we use condoms. True, we did it once without a condom, but I had my period only three days after that.

Are you sexually active? You might be pregnant. Dizziness, implantation cramping and nausea and hunger are all early pregnancy signs.

This could be the pill but if you've been taking it awhile and not had these symptoms then I doubt it.

Yes, low iron can cause dizziness and cramping, so add a women's vitamin with iron to your diet and if this hasn't improved your symptoms within a week, suspect pregnancy.

No birth control is 100% reliable. Try abstinence. Or if you are married, look into a natural method like NFP.

Best of luck.

Just FYI for all the people above, some brands of birth control pills DO have iron in the off week section of pills. However, I don't advise giving them to your boyfriend. Just go the store and buy him some iron supplement. Or feed him some spinach.
