Can a motherboard that supports DDR2 also use DDR1? In particular the Intel P965 Express chip(set).

NO WAY.

DDR2 has 240 pins, DDR only has 184 pins.

BUT there are some motherboards that have both ddr and ddr2 slots but you just can NOT use both at the same time. Here is a sample:

They are mechanically incompatible.
