Well checking up on you isn't one of the main ones, but in combo with others it might be.

Does he lose his temper easily, does he throw things or barely control himself? Does he always blame you or not take responsibility for his actions. Is there a history of violence in his family (both father or mother)? Does he not show you respect when you disagree with him? Does he try to control who you see and talk too? Does he always want to know what you are up too and where you are. Is he very jealous? And of course has he ever hit you.

Just the simple fact that you are asking this question, tells me more than you think.

it sounds like he could be controlling, but trust your intuition it is a red flag that is telling you that something could potentially be wrong if you stay in a relationship with him, a good site that lists information on various different subjects including clues to look out for is woman savers.com it also recounts stories from what women have gone through with abusive relationships as well as other damaging relationships the link to the site is listed below....

The first signs might be...he can't accept your point of views .and says that's stupid what are you saying, then when you don't do according to him, he gets angry ( but he is quiet like the sky before the storm ), when he hits you and says I'm kidding just to see how do you react, when he knows that you hate something, but he says you should do it...and some other things.

Take care and good luck!

On the surface you're asking the question , only because deep inside you know the answer. Get out before you get hurt.

If he's too controlling or quick to anger whether it's directed toward you or someone else, you better think twice before making any longterm plans.

-Hot temper.
-Checking up on you, even following you.
-Interrogating you whenever you go somewhere without him.
-Wanting you to spend all your time with him and not your friends (even while he goes out to hang with his)

Please watch out. Don't wait for anything to happen. seriously.
